What are Dental Veneers?
Veneers are thin, porcelain covers that bond to the front of your teeth. Veneers can be used to repair chipped or fractured teeth, close gaps between teeth, and fix discolorations. Whether you need to restore a single tooth that is fractured or discolored, or multiple to teeth create a perfect smile, veneers may be the ideal long-term solution for you.
Because veneers are so efficient at changing the size, shape, color, and overall structure of the teeth, they’re are an ideal solution for treating many dental cosmetic issues. Although there are a variety of materials that can be used to create veneers, porcelain is able to better resist staining and is the closest equivalent to natural teeth.
Who can Benefit from Veneers?
No two mouths are the same, so no two sets of veneers are, either. Instead, veneers are custom made to match the look of the surrounding teeth and fit perfectly in place. They are commonly used to correct issues such as the following:
- Misaligned or uneven teeth
- Crooked or misshapen teeth
- Broken or chipped teeth
- Gaps between teeth
To make your custom veneers, Dr. Whitney will remove a tiny layer of the surface of your tooth so we can bond the veneer to the surface without changing the feel of your teeth. Next, Dr. Whitney will take impressions of the teeth and send them to a laboratory, which crafts your custom veneers. During your final appointment, Dr. Whitney will apply the veneers, shape them for proper fit, adjust the color of the veneers, and cement them into place.
The result is a seamless smile that looks natural and visually appealing!
